Topos / Pilot Drilling
Cylindrical pneumatic hammers for duct installation from 1/2" to 4" in lengths up to 20 meters.
What are Topos (Moles)?
Moles are cylindrical pneumatic hammers that compact the soil by displacing it radially, which allows leaving a circular cavity along the trajectory where the required pipe is subsequently installed.
This method can be used in compactable soils such as clays, silts, sands or mixtures. The ideal soils are medium-density clays and silts with unconfined compressive strength between 1.0 and 2.5 Kg/cm².
Pilot Drilling Process
Box Construction
A launch box is built at the starting point and a receiving box at the arrival point.
Mole Launch
The cylindrical pneumatic hammer is launched from the starting box, radially compacting the soil.
Cavity Formation
The mole creates a circular cavity along its trajectory by displacing the soil sideways.
Duct Installation
Once the drilling is complete, the required pipe or duct is installed in the created cavity.
Control Boxes (Optional)
For ring-type distribution lines, control boxes are located that allow achieving great lengths.
